Plymouth District Explorer Scout Unit

meet every Monday at the Blindman's Wood Scout Centre

providing a varied programme for all Explorer Scouts in Plymouth.

New Members are always welcome.

The district also has various groups with satellite units operating in partnership with them,

providing the most flexible approach to the provision of Explorer Scouting.

The District provides a very active programme of activities based on traditional Scouting skills and activities with a fine mix of modern ideas thrown in.

We strongly believe in putting the 'OUT' into Scouting,

Basically in the last 12 months the District Explorers have had

the opportunity to take part in at least 25 days of Scouting

with 12 nights away plus the regular weekly meetings and activities

Activities have included:

Climbing, Abseiling, Fire Lighting, Mountain Biking, Caving, Orienteering, D of E Awards, Archery, Shooting, Bowling,

Map Reading, Moorland Walking, Pioneering, Raft Building, Night Walks, River Crossings, First Aid, Tent Pitching, Canoeing, Cooking, Use of Backpacking Stoves, Use of Axe and Saw, Backwoods Cooking, Camping, Knots,

Young Leaders training, team building and games

plus lots lots more.
